The Problem

Do you like to-do lists? I am sure you do. Writing to-do lists is fun. And once you are done with a task, it is fun to cross it off the list.
But two days later what remains are a bunch of tasks that you don't really want to do. And you conveniently forget your ambition.
Remember the good feeling of starting a habit. You can feel your own potential - how awesome of a person you could be. But so often you go back to the old ways and conveniently forget your ambition.
The underlying reason for this phenomenon is that sticking to plans is hard. Imagine how great you could be if you actually stuck to your plans. Imagine if you would get more of the stuff done that your past-you has told you to do. Maybe you want to learn an instrument or go jogging more often. Or you just want to study for an exam before it comes so close you can feel it.
Before you feel bad that you haven't achieved that yet, remember that you are not alone. You will always have to deal with your momentary short-sightedness.  The trick is to create a world where you get success by doing what feels natural.
Here is what you might need:
  1. a system that works
  1. a way to stick to the system
If you only have one of these two things, you are destined to fail. Weekset is one possible answer to both of these questions.

The Solution

What system actually works?

A weekly appointment to reflect on your goals with a partner!

Many people rely on something called a “weekly review”. Popularised by the book “getting things done” the idea is that once a week you sit down and reflect on your goals and to-dos. Coupling this with an Accountability-buddy -  a friend with whom you do this weekly reflection together and who can remind you about the tasks - is a great system.

You might have even tried something like this in the past and had success with it - at least that is what we hear from many people. But the problem that sticking with plans is hard remains.. So while this system might work for a few weeks or even months, it rarely works for years.

How do I stick to the system?

Use Weekset. If you fail to show up, you have to pay a fee!

It sounds stupid, but it is super effective: even on your most lazy day you still care about losing money.
The App Beeminder can do this for some things. For example you can connect your fitbit with Beeminder and if you don’t reach your goal, you have to pay them a fee. We think the most important thing to stick to is your Weekset. Therefore we are building a product that is specifically designed to do just that.
